  • Protokol Keselamatan Covid 19 Sekolah Permata Bangsa- Terbukti Berhasil!

  • PBS Covid-19 Safety Protocol – Proves Successful!

Today our school health and safety protocol has proven itself a success!

    • Teachers went through extensive training in June to understand how to break the transmission of the virus and how to practice good hygiene.
    • Safety procedures and protocols were put in place throughout the school.
    • Staff then created their own working “bubble”.

By keeping our staff separated in “bubbles”, and following strict protocol, we were able to avert a larger complication.

One of our staff, when being prepared for minor surgery, tested positive for covid-19 virus during the routine test. We are happy to report the staff member is only showing moderate symptoms and is feeling slightly unwell. They will remain off campus to complete their 14 day quarantine. It is believed that the staff member was infected while visiting their medical clinic the week before in preparation for the minor surgical procedure.

As per our Covid-19 Protocol & Procedure Policy:

    • The building was immediately quarantined for cleaning and disinfecting;
    • Staff sharing that area, were identified, isolated and safely transported to the nearest clinic for rapid antigen testing.
    • All test results were negative (Procedure & Policy when followed works very well).
    • Even though testing negative – staff members having been in contact with our team member, will self-quarantine in their own homes next week and will receive 2 negative test before returning to our facility.
    • Specialists will be on site Monday morning to fog and disinfect the entire school.
    • All lessons will continue as per usual.

We hope all Permata Bangsa families remain safe during this Global Pandemic. Teachers continue to  remind our students to practice good hygiene and common sense during these times.

Let’s keep our community “thinking positive and praying” that this situation will improve around the world and we can once again return to safe, normal, and happy lives.

Take exquisite care and stay safe!

  • Project Based Learning (PBL) Pack for Gr 4-6:

Effects of Exercise on Body Systems

Grades 4 through 6 will begin their PBL Pack next week and work together to design a series of exercises to improve their fitness level. Ms. Putri met with them yesterday to share some of the details of activity. Parents will be recieiving their own info pack with timetable details tomorrow.

    The Problem

Your school is having a field day a month from now! Students will compete in different outdoor games and activities. Each class will earn points depending on how well the students from that class perform in each event. The class that earns the most points will win a big prize. Your class is determined to win! To prepare, you will need to design a series of exercises to improve your fitness level. The exercises must be ones that can safely be completed every day for at least a week within 20 minutes. You must also design a way to measure how effective the exercises are at improving your muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems.

    Project Objectives

When we finish our project, we will be able to:

    - Understand how the respiratory, circulatory, and muscular systems each work

    - Plan and design a series of exercises

    - Design a way to measure the fitness of the muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systemsn Collect and analyze data

Create a presentation and demonstrate your exercises

  • Project Based Learning (PBL) Pack for Gr 1-3:

    How Animals Spread Seeds:

Grades 1 through 3 will begin their PBL Pack next week and work together on the Driving Question: How can you design a model to show how animals move seeds? Ms. Astri met with them yesterday to share some of the details of activity. Parents will be recieiving their own info pack with timetable details tomorrow.

    The Problem

Did you ever wonder how animals help move seeds? They might not even know they are doing it! Imagine a place with no plants. The area is too far away to plant seeds yourself. You need some help from nature to move seeds. The seeds must travel to a safe, new place to grow into plants. How can you design a seed so that an animal can bring it to this new place? You may not move the seeds with your hands.

    Project Objectives

When we finish our project, we will be able to:

    - Understand the different ways that seeds move to new places

    - Describe how animals help seeds move

    - Build a model to show how animals help seeds move

    - Create a presentation

  • S1 Exams during Covid -19 Pandemic

  • PBS Exams during Covid-19 Pandemic

    From the Principal's Desk:

Due to the current understanding that many of our students are experiencing stress as a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic and the disruption this has caused to their studies, Ms Kerry deems it “Unfair” to examine student learning during this time.

Many of the PBI students are finding it extremely difficult to fully engage in learning via a Zoom classroom environment. Many are quite shy and experience “high anxiety” at seeing or hearing themselves in the zoom classroom. Anxiety impacts concentration and thus learning is impaired for these students.

The Principal, in collaboration with the examination committee, have decided that it is “unfair” to  examine/summative report on for the purpose of grading student learning at this time; however, the committee does believes it vital to identify student’s individual learning accomplishments and gaps as well as PBI teaching progressions for Semester 1.  This will allow us to evaluate and organise future learning plans for the purpose of bridging gaps in student learning due the Covid-19 Global Pandemic.

Class teachers have been instructed to contact the parents of their students to explain the situation in more detail.

Principal’s instruction to PBS teaching team:

    1. Provide stress free opportunities/activities for students to challenge themselves during the usual examination week. Primary & Lower Secondary must be with Parent consent.
    2. No student is to have their Sem 1 result fall below their 2018-19 grade report (pre-covid).  Final results are to be negotiated with parent/student during your end of semester Parent/Teacher consultations.
    3. Future planning:
      1. Compare your teaching/learning Report Progressions for S1 2020/21 with S1 2018/19.
      2. Identify areas that were not covered this year as a result of a reduction in delivery.
      3. Prepare “gap” planning for S2-2020/21 through S1-2021/21.
      4. Meet in your sector’s planning group during S2 collaboration meetings to plan ILP for your students.
