          • Back to School - Pembelajaran Tatap Muka

            Salam hangat,
            Ms Kerry

            *******************************************************

            Dear Parents,

I am delighted to tell you that on Friday, Permata Bangsa passed our physical inspections for both SD/Primary and SMP/Secondary. All of our administrative reporting, systems and safety protocols had already been approved and the inspection teams were very impressed with Permata Bangsa’s readiness infrastructure.

At this time for SD we are allowed to open immediately for grades 5 and 6. It was explained that the reopening of schools is “like a tap”. So we can expect tow more SD grades hopefully to receive permission to return during the next two weeks.

For SMP in Semarang, Permata Bangsa and approved schools have been allowed to reopen for grade 9 only.

As Permata Bangsa School’s infrastructure and systems are so well implemented, Permata Bangsa has been given Special Permission to open up ALL grades in SMP (grades 7, 8 and 9).  Currently in Semarang, only Permata Bangsa School has this permission!

We are expecting early next week that the inspection team for SMA/Senior Secondary will visit.

I shall be contacting and discussing with parents starting on Monday, Permata Bangsa’s reopening strategy and look forward to receiving everyone’s input to create a comfortable, safe and effective reopening for our students.

            Warm regards
            Ms Kerry

          • PBS literacy in the news

          • Many thanks to the parent that send this article in.

            The English translation as follows:

Literacy in Lockdown – It’s not only reading.

Permata Bangsa School in Semarang has taken the initiative and challenge to improve on learners’ literacy throughout the pandemic home schooling. "Many parents would assume that literacy means “reading and writing”, however; literacy is much more than that" explains Dr Hariyanto Subiyantoro, who holds a Phd in Language and Literacy. "Literacy is the ability to interpret and use language confidently by listening, reading, creating texts orally, written, digitally as well as graphically, and the ability to explain and argue them confidently".

During Covid19, Permata Bangsa School is running literacy programs such as, Debate Club, Storytelling for younger learners and Computer Programming for grades three to eleven. Dr Hariyanto explains that the programs are successful due to the ratio of a maximum of twelve students per teacher, the use of multimode delivery methods and real time running record assessment using the international reference, Fountas & Pinnell leveling system. Parents are also encouraged and assisted by teachers on supporting their children’s learning.

Like many other schools in Indonesia, Permata Bangsa School has passed all its requirements for reopening, has modern small classroom catering for a maximum of 12 students per classroom and is now awaiting the official go ahead from the government.

Enrolments are open all year round (www.permatabangsa.com) depending on the limited availability of seats and complying with updated heath and safety policies.
